Restaurant
While traveling on the road, it can be tough to decide on a place to eat, let alone find quality, kid-friendly restaurants. Wall Drug’s Western Art Gallery Restaurant seats more than 500 people and is known for its famous homemade donuts, rolls, pie and ice cream, legendary hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, buffalo burgers, and 5-cent coffee. Visitors to the restaurant can relax and enjoy a glass of wine with a meal from a complete menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, including a full kids’ menu.
Don’t forget to leave some room so you can enjoy a visit to the Soda Fountain Ice Cream Shop. The Soda Fountain is open seasonally and features homemade hard- and soft-serve ice cream, old-fashioned floats and sundaes, shakes and malts. The soda fountain has been a Wall Drug favorite since the early 1930s for both adults and kids.
After your meal, enjoy a stroll through the Western Art Gallery Restaurant and view more than 300 original oil paintings of Western art and illustrations collected by the Hustead family over the past 50 years. The collection is the largest privately owned Western and illustration art collection in the country. In the Western Art Gallery Restaurant, you’ll see original works by artists including NC Wyeth, Harvey Dunn, Gutzom Borglum, Oscar Howe and many others.
So stop debating on a place to eat, take a break from your scenic drive through South Dakota, and fuel up with one of our famous dishes or homemade donuts!
